Understanding the settings
KimiCue has two main settings that control how it finds and places cues. This page explains what each one does in plain English - so you know what to pick before you hit Start.
Setting 1
Genre Mode
Tells KimiCue what style of music your track is.
Different genres have different structures. A Techno track builds slowly over 8 minutes. A Drum and Bass track drops hard after 30 seconds. KimiCue uses the genre to know where to look for the drop and how to recognise it.
Just pick the genre that matches your music and you'll get better results.
Not sure? Leave it on Auto Detect - KimiCue will read the genre tag already stored in your track and pick automatically.
- Auto Detect
- General EDM
- House / Tech House
- Techno
- Afro House
- Melodic / Progressive
- Drum and Bass
- Trance
- Dubstep
- UK Garage
- Hip Hop / RnB Experimental
Setting 2
Cue Template
Controls how your hot cues are spread around the drop.
KimiCue finds the drop in your track, then places 8 hot cues (A through H) at set distances before and after it - so when you're DJing you can jump in at different points.
The template decides how far apart those cues are. Think of it like choosing your mixing style.
Club Mix Default
The most useful for most DJs. Cues are spread evenly from 64 beats before the drop to 64 beats after. Good for standard club sets where you're blending tracks smoothly.
Best for
Long Blend
For DJs who mix early and slowly. Cues start 128 beats before the drop, giving you a long run-up to work with. Good if you like to have the next track playing quietly for a long time before the drop hits.
Best for
Festival Drop
For tight, precise drops. Cues are packed close together in small 8-beat steps right around the drop. Good for high-energy sets where timing has to be exact.
Best for
Minimal Techno
For long slow-building tracks. Cues are spread very wide with big gaps between them, matching the long drawn-out structure of Techno and deep electronic music.
Best for
Not sure which to pick? Use Club Mix Default - it works for almost everything.
